ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — State Police officers handled a total of 66 crashes over the holiday weekend, the agency says.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Tim Johnson released statistics Tuesday for the Independence Day holiday weekend running from 12:01 a.m. on Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Monday that showed that five of the crashes were alcohol related, including the one fatal crash.
Officers made 50 DWI arrests during the period, according to Johnson’s news release.
The statistics also showed that officers issued 1,373 hazardous citations, 314 adult restraint citations and 117 child restraint citations, and made 167 motorist assists, the news release said.
