Then they expanded into catering.
Now the couple behind The Sassy Apron are taking the next step in their food journey by opening their own restaurant. The new venture — called Delish — will go in next to The Sassy Apron’s headquarters at 3705 Ellison NW. A grand opening is set for June 21.
“It seems like a natural progression for us in the food industry,” said Rachel Broglie, who owns the company with husband Ian.
Delish will offer lunch Monday-Saturday and serve dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Broglie said the menu will incorporate some of The Sassy Apron recipes but added that having a restaurant offers more culinary flexibility.
Lunch features burgers and sandwiches, while dinner patrons can order Delish’s take on standards like salmon, chicken pot pie and more.
“We’re taking the traditional American food and making it a little more modern,” Broglie said.
The 3,200-square-foot restaurant will have a casual atmosphere.
It also will serve as home base for The Sassy Apron’s cooking events and play host to special Thursday night theme events.
Delish’s grand opening will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, and include live music, food samples and wine tasting.
