ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Plaza Eatery in Downtown Albuquerque now has a cousin in the Northeast Heights.

Plaza Eatery owner Kanella Chronis expanded this week by opening the Cinnamon Sugar & Spice Café at 5809 Juan Tabo NE, part of The Shops at Mountain Run.

“I’ve been looking at this location for a really long time, because it’s got the best patio in the front and I always thought it would make a great sandwich shop,” Chronis said of her site, which includes part of the old DaVinci’s Gourmet Pizza location. “The opportunity came up and I thought I’d give it a shot.”

(DaVinci’s, as you may recall, moved to Indian School last year.)

Chronis said Cinnamon Sugar & Spice offers many of the same items as Plaza Eatery but in a more relaxed setting. That includes New Mexican, American and Greek food – like her popular chicken pitas – plus an assortment of baked goods like baklava, cookies, pies, cinnamon rolls and sticky buns.

The cafe is open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for Sunday brunch.
