Gary King hires new campaign manager

New Mexico Democratic governor candidate Gary King has hired Keith Breitbach as his new campaign manager, a King campaign official confirmed this evening.

Breitbach, who is fresh off running the primary election campaign of U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., arrived in New Mexico today and officially accepted the job.

He becomes King’s third campaign manager of this month. Jim Farrell left the job after the June 3 primary election to spend more time with his family and Steve Verzwyvelt, who was hired to replace him, abruptly resigned after it was revealed he had posted offensive tweets in the past.

Breitbach has also worked on a re-election campaign for U..S. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. In other endeavors, he has been a radio talk show host and photographer, according to an online biography.

King, the state’s attorney general and son of late three-term Gov. Bruce King, is running against Republican Gov. Susana Martinez in the general election.

To date, Martinez has reported having much more money than King in her campaign account. She reported having $4.3 million in her campaign war chest as of last month, compared to just $75,518 for King.
