‘Topes Today July 10, 2014

........................................................................................................................................................................................

at Las Vegas 6 p.m. (doubleheader)

Radio: 610 AM

Probable starters: Game 1: Isotopes RHP Red Patterson (3-7, 5.15) vs. 51s RHP Matthew Bowman (0-0, 4.91); Game 2: Isotopes RHP Carlos Frias (6-4, 4.66) vs. 51s RHP Greg Peavey (1-4, 12.21)

Thursday: The Isotopes managed one walk-off win but couldn’t make it two and settled for a doubleheader split with El Paso at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque won the opener – the completion of a game suspended Wednesday night because of rain – by a 7-6 score. The Chihuahuas took Game 2, 8-7.

Game 1 ended in dramatic fashion as Brian Cavazos-Galvez lined a one-out, bases-loaded double to score the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the ninth. It capped a three-run inning for the ‘Topes, who trailed 6-4 after eight.

In Game 2, the Isotopes rallied from 4-0 and 7-4 deficits to forge a 7-7 tie after five innings. But Jeff Francouer doubled and scored on Alex Castellanos’ single in the sixth and El Paso held on for the win.
