ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — All-Star break
Saturday: A three-run eighth inning capped off by a go-ahead home run from Albuquerque’s own Brian Cavazos-Galvez vaulted the Albuquerque Isotopes to a series-clinching 6-5 victory against the division-leading Las Vegas 51s Saturday night at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Isotopes played from behind most of the game after falling behind 2-0 in the first inning. The ‘Topes managed to tie it at 2 in the third and at 3 in the fifth, but Las Vegas had a 5-3 lead headed into the eighth inning. Jamie Romak led off the inning with a home run. Brock Peterson followed with a single and Mike Baxter walked. A double play seemed to squash the rally, but a wild pitch scored Peterson to tie the game. On the next pitch, Albuquerque native Cavazos-Galvez smashed a home run to put the Topes up 6-5.
Next home game: Thursday vs. Sacramento, 7:05 p.m.
