Police have identified several people of interest in the shooting death of a Rio Rancho man Wednesday.

Rio Rancho Police officers responded to the 700 block of Plata Drive SE  about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a 911 call from an individual who said his roommate had been shot by an unknown subject, according to a news release.

The victim, 57-year-old David Pickett, was transported to the hospital, but he died before 2 that afternoon.

KOB TV reported that shots had been fired into the home.

According to police, investigators were still processing the residence on Thursday, and were locating and interviewing the people of interest.

No more information was available at press time.

The slaying is the fifth in seven months, with the last one only 10 days before.
