ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A 21-year-old Church Rock man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a killing this year.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Mexico said Kevin Martinez entered the plea Monday under an agreement that calls for him to be sentenced to nine years in prison followed by a term of supervised release.
Police arrested Martinez on March 20 for the March 5 killing of a man outside Gallup.
According to prosecutors, Martinez pushed the victim when the victim ridiculed him. The victim then allegedly threatened Martinez with a knife, but Martinez was able to take the knife away and stab the victim.
