FARMINGTON – A northwestern New Mexico man has been arrested after police were able to trace a cellphone found inside a burglarized business.

Farmington police said 26-year-old Terrison Shorty of Crownpoint was arrested July 16 after an investigation determined that the phone found by employees in Basin Home Health on June 27 after the burglary belonged to Shorty.

According to police, detectives were able to identify Shorty as the phone’s owner based on information on the phone and an anonymous tip.

Police said Shorty is accused of commercial burglary, larceny, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property.
