‘Topes today

........................................................................................................................................................................................

At Reno, 7:05 p.m.

Probable starters: Isotopes RHP Jeff Bennett (4-5, 4.19) vs. Aces LHP Andrew Chafin (4-4, 5.45)

Radio: 610 AM

Saturday: The Isotopes (51-57) lost 7-3 at Reno (57-51) in a game marred by a huge brawl in the second inning.

Albuquerque shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena and Reno catcher Blake Lalli got into an argument at home plate. Arruebarrena shoved Lalli, the benches cleared and numerous players traded punches. The fights spilled into the backstop area where fans had to back up so they wouldn’t have anyone fly into them.

Both Arruebarrena and Lalli were ejected, along with three other Isotopes and four Aces players and their manager. They ejected were, from Albuquerque, shortstop Walter Ibarra, pitcher Pedro Baez and pitcher Carlos Frias. From Reno, manager Phil Nevin, pitcher Kameron Loe, left fielder Aaron Cunningham, first baseman Mike Jacobs and pitcher Andrew Chafin.

Transaction: IF Alex Guerrero, whose ear was partially bitten off by Isotopes teammate Miguel Olivo on May 20, rejoined the club. The two players got into a fracas that began on the mound in Salt Lake City and continued in the dugout. Guerrero was hospitalized, and Olivo was suspended and ultimately released. Guerrero was hitting .376 at the time of the fight. … IF Delvis Morales was sent to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga to make room.

Next home game: Saturday vs. Tacoma, 7:05 p.m.
