Wanted man held in shoplifting case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police said a man wanted in an auto burglary has been arrested after investigators searching for evidence at a Wal-Mart found him shoplifting.

Police spokesman Tanner Tixier said employees saw 26-year-old James Sandoval shoplifting Friday afternoon. Tixier said Sandoval allegedly brandished a hand gun when confronted.

A detective who was there to look at surveillance video of suspects in an auto burglary using stolen credit cards then pursued Sandoval.

Police said Sandoval was one of the suspects in the video.

Sandoval fled on foot but was found trying to hide inside a car.

Police said 20-year-old Daniel Rodriguez, a second burglary suspect, fled from the vehicle into a Home Depot but was arrested.

Sandoval faces at least one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
