Shopping and restaurant news from around the Duke City

Jimmy John’s expanding again in Duke City

jimmyjohnlogoThe sandwich scene at Montgomery Plaza is getting a new player.

The shopping center at San Mateo and Montgomery — already home to Firehouse Subs and Ahmo’s Gyros — has inked a deal to bring in Jimmy John’s, according to Pegasus Retail President Anthony Johnson.

The new Jimmy John’s will move into a 1,200-square-foot space near Payless ShoeSource.

Construction drawings are in the works and the location is probably targeting an opening around year’s end, said Colliers International associate broker Ben Perich, who represented franchisee Matt Gruber in the deal.

Jimmy John’s has five existing Albuquerque locations and continues growing. The brand is known in part for its delivery service, though locations also offer seating for dine-in customers.
