Marble Brewery’s West Side taproom is spilling into some new space.
The 2-year-old venture — an offshoot of Marble’s flagship location in Downtown Albuquerque — soon will double in size with the absorption of 1,200 square feet formerly used by a neighboring nail salon.
Ted Rice, Marble’s brewmaster and an owner, said construction on the project will begin in earnest next week and last about two months. It will increase the taproom’s capacity from about 50 to 100 and will roughly double the venue’s outdoor seating, too.
“We’re turning people away because it’s at capacity on a regular basis,” Rice said of the taproom, which opened at 5740 Night Whisper NW in Unser Plaza — near Presbyterian Rust Medical Center — in October of 2012.
The expansion also will include the construction of a small stage so the venue can host live music a couple times a week, he said.
Richard Gallegos, a commercial real estate broker with Sperry Van Ness Team Southwest, worked on the Marble deal.
