Coach: Bruce Binkley (3rd year; 7-13)
Last season: 5-5
Returning starters: 6 offense, 6 defense
Key players: Tyrelle Jackson, sr. (5-11, 184, QB); Martine Huerta, sr. (6-1, 257, G/DT); Gami Antillon, sr. (5-7, 160, WR/CB); Irving Manriquez, sr. (6-4, 275, OT/DT); Ahmed Gebreel, sr. (6-0, 162, WR/DB); Japhette Valles, sr. (6-0, 158, WR/CB).
Outlook: After falling short of a playoff berth in 2013, the Knights appear ready to take the next step. Jackson is a third-year starter at quarterback and figures to spearhead a potent offense. Del Norte must improve on defense and special teams, however. The Knights face a challenging pre-district schedule but have enough talent and depth to contend in a revamped District 2-5A.

Sept. 19 at Aztec, 7 p.m.
Sept. 26 at Los Lunas, 7 p.m.
Oct. 2 at La Cueva (W), 7 p.m.
Oct. 10 at Bernalillo-x, 7 p.m.
Oct. 17 Española Valley-x (M), 7 p.m.
Oct. 24 Capital-x (M), 7 p.m.
Nov. 7 at Los Alamos-x, 7 p.m.
(C) – Community Stadium; (M) – Milne Stadium; (W) – Wilson Stadium
Circle the date: Back-to-back road trips to Aztec and Los Lunas will test the Knights, but much figures to ride on the Nov. 7 season finale at Los Alamos. It’s hard to name a favorite in the new 2-5A alignment, but Del Norte and Los Alamos are likely to be in the title hunt.
