Utility completes plans for upgrade

........................................................................................................................................................................................

ROSWELL – A transmission loop that provides the Roswell area with electricity will be getting a major upgrade now that Xcel Energy has completed its plans.

The provider said work on the second phase of the $30 million project is expected to start in 2017 with the installation of a 115-kilovolt line.

The new transmission line will replace a smaller one that runs south of Roswell.

Work began in 2013 to upgrade a substation in Roswell to accommodate the larger line.
