ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The three-day Fiestas de San Lorenzo, the annual celebration of Bernalillo’s patron saint, come to an end today.
Town residents have been holding the celebrations since the 1690s.
The festivities include street processions and Matachines dances, which depict tales of good overcoming evil. The narrative dances feature such traditional characters as the Toros, who represent evil and temptation, and Malinches, young girls dressed in white who portray purity.
