ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Rio Rancho Police Department’s SWAT team made entry into a home in the 4500 block of Alpine where a man, who was thought to be armed, allegedly had barricaded himself inside.
SWAT team members found no one inside the home just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Rio Rancho police spokesman Sgt. Nicholas Onken.
Police were questioning a resident of the home who exited the residence a short time after police arrived.
Rio Rancho police and the Rio Rancho Police Department’s SWAT team have responded to a home in the 4500 block of Alpine.
Police were called out to the home about 5:15 p.m.Wednesday in reference to an armed man who had barricaded himself inside the home with another person inside, according to Rio Rancho police spokesman Sgt. Nicholas Onken.
The person who was inside the home came out a short time after police arrived and was being questioned by police. However, the man who is thought to be armed remains inside the home.
Police have closed nearby Riverside Drive SE at Sabana Grande and Meadowlark. Houses to either side of the home in question also have been evacuated as a cautionary measure, according to Onken.
