Sheriff’s Office Seeks Suspect In Homicide

........................................................................................................................................................................................

A suspect has been named in a South Valley homicide that took place earlier this week.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for Francisco Roman Mancilla-Elvires, 25, who is wanted in connection with the Wednesday killing of Jeovanie Lozano.

Lozano, 22, was fatally shot near La Villa Alegre apartments in the 1400 block of Bridge SW, near Sunset.

Lozano’s relatives called 911 after hearing gunshots, and told investigators that they saw a white Ford Mustang speed away from the scene after the early-morning shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A white Ford Mustang was found abandoned Thursday near Sage and 75th SW, and it was confirmed to be connected to Mancilla-Elvires, according to BCSO spokeswoman Jennifer Vega-Brown.

Mancilla-Elvires also goes by the name Javier. He has “Mancilla” tattooed on the left side of his chest.

In another case development, BCSO arrested Jennifer Palacios, 18, on Friday and charged her with harboring or aiding a felon, according to BCSO and Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court records.

Palacios is the girlfriend of Mancilla-Elvires, according to Vega-Brown.

Mancilla-Elvires and Palacios are thought to have been together when they abandoned the car. However, Palacios is not thought to have been with Mancilla-Elvires at the time of the fatal shooting, Vega-Brown said.

Anyone with information on Mancilla-Elvires’ whereabouts or information in the case is asked to call sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Kmatz at 505-975-5018.
