Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail Nominees Sought

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Nominations will run until March 1, followed by voting March 7 to 25

The New Mexico Tourism Department is looking for nominees to add to its web-based Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail.

Online nominations (www.newmexico.org/greenchilecheeseburger) will run until March 1, followed by popular voting March 7 to 25. The final Trail will be posted on the website later this spring.

Nominations are open to New Mexico-based restaurants with a business license, in good standing with the state Health Department, and with a bricks-and-mortar location, although indoor seating is not required. New Mexico-based chains are eligible, but green chile cheeseburgers must be a regular menu item. A burger must include at least one patty of ground beef, bison or veggie mixture, green chile, cheese, and a bun or other bread.

Four dozen restaurants at nearly 100 locations were included on the initial version of the Trail, launched in 2009. Voting will be overseen by a panel of experts, who may add establishments to make sure all areas are represented.
