ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An Albuquerque man has been arrested for selling meth and heroin out of a porta-potty in the Pussycat Video adult video store parking lot, according to police.
Aaron Gonzales, 22, the alleged dealer, was arrested on multiple counts of drug trafficking after he sold drugs to an undercover detective Tuesday. Police also arrested Andres Plata, 18, who led them to the porta-potty dealer.
“In this undercover work, you never know where you’re going to wind up,” Albuquerque police spokesman Simon Drobik said Wednesday. “Narcotics officers are obviously dedicated.”
According to court documents, police decided to do an undercover drug operation near Central and Pennsylvania, an area in southeast Albuquerque known for drugs and prostitution.
An undercover detective was walking around the area Tuesday and asked a man, later identified as Plata, for heroin. Plata took the bait, according to the detective.
“He stated his brother could help get me some,” the detective wrote in a criminal complaint.
Plata took the detective to a porta-potty in the parking lot of Pussycat Video, which is on the northeast corner of Central and Pennsylvania.
He opened the door and told a man inside, later identified as Gonzales, that the detective was looking for drugs.
Gonzales told the detective he only had $10 worth of heroin, along with $10 worth of methamphetamine, and the detective bought both.
Gonzales and Plata were arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and two counts of conspiracy.
A manager at Pussycat Video said the store has indoor bathrooms, but the company put a porta-potty in the parking lot as a “public service” because people often relieve themselves on the street or in parking lots in the area.
