Fireman suffers non-life-threatening injury after partially falling through roof Wednesday afternoon.
A Las Cruces firefighter, whose name has not been released, was injured after partially falling through the roof of a house on the 700 block of Suzanne Street a little after 5 p.m. Wednesday, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.
The firefighter was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation of what was described as a non-life-threatening injury, the Sun-News said.
The origin and exact cause of the fire, which caused extensive damage to the house, was still under investigation, the paper reported.
Twenty-seven personnel from the Las Cruces Fire Department responded with four engines, a ladder truck and a battalion chief, while Dona Ana, Fairacres, Mesilla and NMSU fire departments assisted by handling other calls in the city, the Sun-News said.
The fire was brought under control in about 25 minutes, and a cat was rescued from the house, according to the paper.
