A bank robber walked into a Compass Bank this morning and demanded cash from a teller.

The suspect, described as a 5’6″, 170-pound Hispanic man in his mid-30s with a dark goatee,  entered the bank on Candelaria and Carlisle at around 9 a.m., FBI Media Coordinator Frank Fisher said. He was wearing a dark beanie, sunglasses, a white bandana that covered his nose and mouth, a black, hooded jacket, a white undershirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and he was last seen walking south on Wellesley Drive NE, Fisher said.

This was the third Compass Bank robbery in a little more than a week.

Anyone with information of the robbery is asked to call the FBI at (505) 889-1300 or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at (505) 843-STOP.

10:06 a.m. – Albuquerque police are investigating a report of a bank robbery at the BBVA Compass Bank at 3500 Candelaria NE, Frank A. Fisher of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in an email.

No other details are available at the moment, Fisher said.

Two other BBVA Compass Bank branches have been robbed in a little more than a week, including one on Wednesday, where a white male in a black hoodie, black ski mask and blue jeans entered the BBVA Compass Bank at San Pedro near Lomas around 12:30 p.m. and implied he had a gun, then left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen walking west on Marble Avenue.

The suspect is still at large, and anyone with information of Wednesday’s robbery is asked to call the FBI at (505) 889-1300 or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at (505) 843-STOP.

Last week, Abran F. Armijo, 43, was arrested in connection with the Wednesday afternoon robbery of the BBVA Compass Bank at 13140 Central Ave. SE near Tramway Boulevard a short time after he left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, according to earlier reports.
