ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Saturday’s jackpot for the Powerball lottery hit $325 million after a rush to buy tickets upped the prize.
The New Mexico Lottery said in a news statement Friday that the jackpot is Powerball’s second-highest ever. Originally, the prize for tomorrow was $310 million, but high ticket sales brought the number up $15 million.
The jackpot run-up began Dec. 28, and has rolled 13 times, the statement said. The odds of matching all six numbers are 1 in 175 million.
The record Powerball jackpot is $365 million and was won in Nebraska in February 2006.
