Polish Man Pleads Guilty in NM License Scam

........................................................................................................................................................................................

A Polish man has pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection to a New Mexico driver’s licenses scam aimed at illegal immigrants.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Gonzales announced Friday that Pawel Skladnik pleaded guilty to transporting illegal immigrants. The 38-year-old Skladnik entered his guilty plea Thursday under an agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in federal court in Albuquerque.

Skladnik and 28-year-old Lukasz Koslik, also a Polish national, were indicted in August for helping illegal immigrants not living in New Mexico get state driver’s’ licenses.

Skladnik admitted to transporting illegal immigrants into New Mexico and arranging for them to get driver’s licenses with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division.

New Mexico allows illegal immigrants living in New Mexico to obtain state driver’s licenses.
