A trio of restaurants – Dave & Buster’s, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, and Genghis Grill – have signed on as part of Winrock Town Center, the company redeveloping the Uptown property said Tuesday.
Goodman Realty Group, owner of Winrock Partners, said it recently signed long-term leases with the three eateries, but could not say when construction would start or when the restaurants would open.
“We are just at the beginning with the city and the approvals and moving as quickly as we can,” said Darin Sand, a spokesman for Goodman Realty Group. “The restaurants all want to be open if they can this year. The leases are signed so we just work through that process.”
Sand said Dave & Buster’s, a food, games and alcohol chain based in Dallas, plans to build a 24,600-square-foot location on the northern part of the property, but declined to be more specific.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, an Italian chain based in Huntington Beach, Calif., and known for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, plans to build a 9,200-square-foot building in the parking area east of Romano’s Macaroni Grill.
The company hopes to submit plans for Dave & Buster’s and BJ’s to the Uptown Review Team in mid-March, beginning the process for city approval, Sand told the Journal.
Genghis Grill, a Mongolian stir fry concept, already has possession of the former T.G.I. Friday’s space at Winrock, just west of Garduño’s, and plans to remodel it, he said. A manager at the company’s location at 4410 The 25 Way NE said it would be six to eight months before the Winrock location would open.
Construction on a 16-screen IMAX Regal Cinemas theater, which was supposed to start in November, is expected to begin in the next 60 days, Sand said.
That will be the first phase of construction on the project and include demolition of the two-story Winrock Inn, built in 1962.
Goodman Realty Group has said it will take about a year to construct the theater, which will be located southeast of the Sports Authority building.
“We’re just real excited about getting started like everybody else,” Sand said. “These are great venues for this area as well.”
