Officials with Sandia Peak Tramway recreated a photo of the tramway’s opening Tuesday morning.
The 1966 recreation of Sandia Peak Tramway’s opening day was shot today at the base of the tramway.
The photo is part of the New Mexico Tourism Department’s on-going Centennial “Get the Picture” contest where residents submit recreations of images of New Mexico during its 100 years of statehood.
A creation of the opening day consisted of a cowboy on a horse and people waiting for the first lift-off.
Tramway officials say the tram has lifted more than 9.9 million people to Sandia Peak in 45 years.
