The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team seized its moment Thursday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The 21st-ranked Lobos turned back scrappy Long Beach State 75-68.
UNM had about 300 fans among the 17,050 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore.
Meanwhile, the Lobo faithful tuned into the game at various places around Albuquerque and at the Pit, which was also hosting NCAA Tournament games.
Some fans at the Pit, however, ran into trouble. Internet access was spotty, and some TVs on the concourse had to be turned off because fans surrounding them were creating a fire hazard.
