Mirror Forum Scheduled

Journal Staff Report
Mirror Tech Days is returning to Albuquerque for a second year.
The three-day forum July 30-Aug. 2 at the Hotel Albuquerque brings together experts, developers and professionals in government-sponsored contract work in optics related to mirror technology, as well as other technologies. Mirror technology is the component of a telescope used to collect and image the entire spectrum of light, from X-rays to radio waves.
In a news release from the sponsors, Jim McNally said, "This is an opportunity to showcase Albuquerque's optics technologies." He is CEO of TruTouch Technologies Inc. and chairman of the New Mexico Optics Industry Association. The association is managing sponsor and the International Society for Optical Engineering is co-sponsor.
Participating agencies invite recipients of their Small Business Innovative Research grants to be presenters. Mirror Tech Days also provides a public peer review of new technologies and allows larger contractors to see what small companies are doing.
The presenters are also exhibitors. Organizers encourage New Mexico companies to exhibit and participate.
In addition to the presentations, NMOIA is planning a small technical exhibit. Anyone interested in exhibiting should contact Ed Spivak at ed@spivakassociates.com.
Organizing agencies include Sandia National Laboratories, Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Missile Defense Agency, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Naval Research Laboratory and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
Sponsors include the city of Albuquerque, state of New Mexico, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico Tech, Albuquerque Economic Development, Technology Ventures Corp., and CVI Laser.
Conference registration is $325, which includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. For information, visit nmoptics.com/events/mirrortechdays.html.
