    Advertising FAQs

How does the Journal online measure web activity?

The usual measurement applied to a web site is based on the number of "hits" it receives. A hit indicates that a file has been requested from the web server. A web page can be made up of several files, so the most important hit as far as advertising is concerned is the HTML hit, or the text file that gives the page its structure. Currently the Albuquerque Journal online receives about 560,000 HTML hits per month and is on the rise. (Up from 80,000 in May 1997)

How many people visit the Albuquerque Journal online each day?

Though the exact number of visitors to the Albuquerque Journal online is not known, the number of user sessions is. The Albuquerque Journal online currently receives about 20,000 user sessions per week.

How many people will see my ad?

The delivery rate of an ad banner is dependent upon it's placement and the percentage of total banner views it receives. Ads on the abqjournal during December, 1997 averaged about 2029 views per week.

How many people will click on my ad and visit my web site?

Click-through is largely determined by ad banner content. Individual ads have seen click through rates of over 8%. The average click through rate for ads posted on the Albuquerque Journal On Line during January, 1997 was 3.59%.

Why should I advertise on the Albuquerque Journal online?

Banner advertising helps draw traffic to a company's web site -- local or national office -- in much the same way traffic is attracted to a physical location by the use of advertising . Additionally, ad banners help to build name recognition and brand loyalty. If you don't have a web site, the Albuquerque Journal online can help you take advantage of this new medium by helping you design your site to be informative and helpful to your customers and by providing instant exposure to your site though the use of ad banners.

Is advertising on the Journal online cost effective?

The Albuquerque Journal online is competitive with other marketing tools such as direct mail and can provide additional and more timely information to your customers at low cost. Moreover, because you are buying a specific amount of measureable exposure, the number of exposures to your advertisement can be guaranteed. Our Marketplace Page offers additional exposure to your website at no additional charge. The Marketplace listings are included in the cost of your banner ad.

Do my customers read the Albuquerque Journal online?

Readers of the Albuquerque Journal online come from all walks of life, but closely resemble web demographics as a whole. They are from mid-to upper-income households, aged 35+ years, and have a college education. Any business can benefit from customers like those!
