The annual Mariachi Spectacular is a chance to see some of the world's finest mariachi bands in a full concert. A full 8, 9, 12, or 15-piece mariachi band wills set your soul on fire when the horns blow the sad notes to "Volver" or "La Chuparossa." This year's Mariachi Spectacular will bring Mariachi Las Pioneras, a group of female artists who broke a mariachi gender line, along with another women’s group, Mariachi Mujer 2000, and guest Rocio Banquells, and several more - including Sol de Mexico - at several shows over three days.

The first main concert of the event will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Sandia Resort and Casino Amphitheater. A mariachi mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 12, at New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park, 1100 Louisiana SE, and a free showcase concert and competition will begin at 6:30 Friday, July 10 at Civic Plaza Downtown, Third and Marquette NW.

Tickets are $45 to $55 through 796-7778, at www.ticketmaster.com and Sandia Resort & Casino ticket office.
