Former substitute teacher Robert Ashley videotaped up the skirt of one of his female Atrisco Elementary students in September 2007.

School officials later found a videotape, which depicted those images, that he had left in a backpack in the teachers’ lounge. He fled the state after allegedly admitting to Bernalillo County Sheriff’s detectives that he was a pedophile who was sexually attracted to 8-and 9-year-old girls. He was eventually arrested in Montrose, Colo., and brought back to Albuquerque. 

Ashley’s lawyer said today that his client is not a child molester and instead has a foot fetish. With “good-time credit,” Ashley likely will spend nine months in prison. He’s already served three months.
