News from around New Mexico:
- An investigation into the alleged -- and admitted -- "double-dipping" by Grant County Commissioner Mary Ann Sedillo has been completed, and a decision is expected this week on whether Sedillo will face any criminal charges.
- A 16-year-old Santa Fe boy is in custody in connection with an alleged gang-related incident that turned deadly Sunday night, leaving another teenager killed.
- A 29-year-old man has been sentenced for a November 2008 hit-and-run death in Taos. The man who struck and killed a 2-year-old toddler on a Taos street, then fled the scene, will spend a year and a half in prison.
- A Santa Fe police lieutenant was arrested early Sunday for aggravated DWI after he almost struck a Rio Rancho police car. Stephen C. Ryan, 44, of Rio Rancho, is charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquors or drugs and failure to maintain lanes.
- A 41-year-old Deming man was being held Monday in the Luna County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash-only bond, charged with second-degree criminal sexual penetration of a minor after a 15-year-old girl who used to live in Deming told authorities in Florida that she had been sexually assaulted several times in New Mexico.
- Matthew Wiggins, 26, of Farmington went on trial Monday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a San Juan County woman in 2007. He was convicted in February in another kidnapping and rape case.
- A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in western Colfax County shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, the second such quake in the area in the past two months.
- Kira Vaughn, 26, of Alamogordo, is being held at the Otero County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond, charged with one count of child abuse resulting in death after her 2-month-old son, Hezekiah, died June 21.
