Each organization met standards for the 2009 accreditation by the National Trust Main Street Center

New Mexico has nine newly accredited MainStreet communities, the state Economic Development Department says.
The department's New Mexico MainStreet Program said in a news release Tuesday that nine member organizations have met the standards for the 2009 accreditation by the National Trust Main Street Center.
Each program succeeded in achieving commendable performance standards in promoting preservation-based approaches to the revitalization of MainStreet commercial districts, the news release said.
Rich Williams, director of the New Mexico MainStreet Program, said, "New Mexico has 24 incredible MainStreet organizations completing economic development projects resulting in job creation and business expansion in their downtown districts. The hard work these nine communities put forth to meet all 10 criteria the National Trust established for accreditation has truly paid off."
According to the news release, New Mexico MainStreet's 2009 nationally accredited communities include:

  • Artesia MainStreet, Inc.
  • Carlsbad MainStreet Project
  • Clayton MainStreet
  • Corrales MainStreet, Inc.
  • Las Cruces Downtown
  • MainStreet Las Vegas
  • Los Alamos MainStreet Future
  • Raton MainStreet
  • Silver City MainStreet Project
