The latest winter storm has blanketed sections of southern New Mexico, leaving snow from the western woodlands to the eastern plains.

The National Weather Service reports about 3 inches of snow in Glenwood and another 2 inches in the Roswell area. Clovis and Portales have about half an inch so far, according to the Weather Service.

An estimated 3 inches has fallen so far in Ruidoso, the Weather Service reports.

State highway officials are urging caution for travelers braving affected roads. Visit the New Mexico Transportation Department for road advisories and conditions.

The storm is forecast to linger through Saturday over New Mexico, and a second storm punching across the northern mountains.
