Police seek Anton Chico man they say shot 3 in separate incidents.

Santana Baca, 46, is being sought in connection with two separate shooting incidents near his home town of Anton Chico Saturday afternoon, said state Department of Public Safety spokesman Peter Olson.

The shootings occurred on N.M. 386 and N.M. 451 in northern New Mexico and appeared to be the result of "some sort of altercation that might be related to previous violence," Olson said.

One man was hospitalized in critical condition and two others were reported in satisfactory condition, according to an Associated Press report on KOB-TV's Web site.

Two were shot while in car and one was shot while trying to run away, said Olson, who said Baca was "well-known to law enforcement."

He is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and is believed to be armed with a 9mm handgun and a .22-caliber rifle, Olson said.

Anyone with information on Baca's whereabouts is asked to call the New Mexico State Police in Las Vegas at (505)425-6771.
