Spellers are remarkable young people

Watching the national spelling bee last night on television was impressive to say the least. To say these kids are smart is somewhat of an understatement. They were spelling words most of us have never heard of.

Albuquerque's Matthew Evans of Albuquerque placed sixth in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, misspelling the word "fauchard."

The winner was Evan O'Dorney, who won with the word "serrefine" and became the last one standing in the 80th annual bee in Washington D.C.
