Hang on to your hats -- cooler, wetter weather is on the way.
A cold front entering New Mexico from the northeast and heading south is bringing wind advisories in its wake  for the entire Rio Grande Valley through tonight and for the Guadalupe Mountains in Chaves County on Thursday.

The National Weather Service has posted a wind advisory from Espanola to Carrizozo through tonight forecasting sustained winds over 30 mph and gusts nearing 50 mph, while stronger winds -- over 40 mph at times -- are expected Thursday along the Guadalupe Mountains, The Associated Press reports.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase through tonight, with measurable rain north of Interstate 40, according to AP.

Cool and cloudy weather is expected to continue Thursday, with more showers and isolated thunderstorms possible.
