Doroteo “Frankie” Samora died at the age of 101
Samora is most well known outside of Taos Pueblo as “The Man Who Killed the Deer,” the classic 1942 novel by noted Southwestern author Frank Waters based on a true story of three pueblo men caught poaching a deer on what had once been tribal lands.
