Deputies search for accused rapist

Local law enforcement officials are searching for a 23-year-old known gang member who is accused of raping two local women within the past month. The most recent incident happened Wednesday, officials said.

Suspect Matthew Wiggins, of Farmington, is described as a 6-foot-2-inch black male, weighing about 220 pounds.

The Farmington Daily Times reports:

Sheriff's Office deputies believe Wiggins raped his first victim, a 30-year-old American Indian woman, May 14 when she was riding around in a car with him and her male friend, Truby said.

The victim told investigators that after riding around that day, she and Wiggins dropped off her male friend at his house. Wiggins then drove the victim out of Farmington. The story from the Daily Times is here.
