Traffic moving, but being re-routed

Traffic was moving again on Southbound 14, although Northbound was closed. Northbound traffic is being re-routed around the crash and is moving, although slow.

A pickup truck and a sedan collided Thursday afternoon in the East Mountains, sending three to the hospital and closing a main north-south throughfare, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on North 14 near Interstate 40, Sgt. David Knowles of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department tells ABQJournal.com.

"Three individuals -- some from each vehicle -- were transported to the hospital, one by helicopter," Knowles said. No one was killed in the crash, but Knowles described the injuries as "serious."

The victims' names and ages were not immediately available, nor were the details of the crash.

North 14 remained closed in both directions between Matterhorn and I-40 as of 5:20 p.m. , Knowles said.

Authorities do not suspect alcohol was involved in the crash. Its contributing factors are still under investigation.
