Chilly morning, mild afternoon ... but wet weather coming.

Only three New Mexico cities -- Gallup, Grants and Taos -- reporting single-digit temperatures at this hour. Keep current with conditions around the state at ABQjournal.com's weather page.

Somewhat mild temperatures are forecast for this afternoon -- around 50 in Albuquerque. But a storm system is working its way into New Mexico and is expected to arrive later today and  Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it could get hot today for Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito, who is expected to squeak through on a narrow party-line vote on the Senate Judiciary Committee today, and perhaps -- just perhaps -- a confirmation vote by the full Senate later this week.

The trial of jailed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was expected to resume today, but has been postponed until Sunday as a new chief judge gets ready to preside.

And the Cody Posey trial resumes in Alamogordo today with the defense expected to call about two dozen witnesses.

7:50am UPDATE: Here is New Mexico's weather outlook from the National Weather Service.
