Rio Bravo Boulevard, from 11 p.m. today through 5 p.m. Sunday, is scheduled to be closed in both directions at the railroad tracks, just east of Second Street, the state Department of Transportation reports.
The DOT and New Mexico Rail Runner Express operators are making improvments to the roadway and railroad track crossing.
"These improvements will greatly increase railroad safety in the area," Lawrence Rael, executive director of the Mid-Region Council of Goverments, said in a news release. "Having regular commuter service in the middle region of the state has really brought attention to track and road safety, which is very important."
Detours for drivers will be posted.
