Five-vehicle crash on West Side sends officer to hospital.

A police car was heading through the intersection of Coors and Quail NW with lights and siren on Monday night when another driver failed to see the cruiser and struck it, setting off a chain reaction collision with at least two other vehicles, KOAT-Tv is reporting on its Web site, TheNewMexicoChannel.com.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman John Walsh said the accident occurred at 10:21 p.m. and that there were no serious injuries.

The officer complained of head and shoulder pain and was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital where he was treated and released, Walsh said.
