As of 3:40pm the Wells Fargo Special Shapes Glowdeo, Fireworks scheduled for tonight is a go.

Balloon Fiesta officials have assessed the weather, and at this point anyway, stated the events for tonight will go on as scheduled.

Weather Could Smile on Wells Fargo Special Shapes Glowdeo, Fireworks.

The skies were clearing, the wind was calming and the sun was shining Thursday afternoon. And Balloon Fiesta officials will be assessing weather conditions right up until the scheduled start of the 5:45 p.m. Wells Fargo Special Shapes Glowdeo event and post-balloon glow fireworks set for around 8 p.m., said fiesta spokeswoman Kathie Leyendecker.

The weather sure was looking better Thursday afternoon, but fiesta officials will obviously have the last word. Stay tuned.

6am -- Morning Liftoff Canceled: Special shapes mass ascension won't fly this morning.  Events at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta were put on hold because of the weather, said fiesta spokeswoman Kathie Leyendecker.
Fiesta officials were taking a wait-and-see attitude toward this evening's planned Wells Fargo Special Shapes Glowdeo at 5:45 p.m. and AfterGlow fireworks show at 8 p.m., Leyendecker said. An announcement should be made by mid-afternoon, she said.
Visitors are still welcome to come out to Balloon Fiesta Field where parking fees and gated admissions were waived this morning, Leyendecker said.

Regardless of the weather, the new Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's a great way to appreciate  ballooning's past, while its present is temporarily on hold. Adults $4, a dollar off for New Mexico residents; $2 for seniors 65 and older; $1 for children 4-12 and those 3 and under get in free. Call 768-6020 for information.
