Police have fatally shot a motorist who officers say led them on a vehicle chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph.
Albuquerque police spokesman John Walsh says the motorist, who was not immediately identified, also rammed patrol cars during the chase early Friday morning.
Authorities say the chase began on Albuquerque's west side when an officer tried to stop a car with no license plate, but the car took off.
Police say the car went toward Rio Rancho, then turned around toward Albuquerque.
Police tried to stop the car with road blocks, but the driver hit squad cars, and one officer suffered minor leg injuries.
Police say the motorist, the only one in the car, was shot to death in Albuquerque's north valley after he ran his car into a fence at a dead-end road at Glenwood and Veranda NW, near Candelaria and Rio Grande.
