Crews restore power downtown; paper delivery delayed.

Flames shot out of manholes and power was cut in parts of downtown El Paso around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, and officials suspect that an electrical short may have ignited a pocket of gas underground, according to The Associated Press.

The El Paso Times, which went up online as usual today, was forced to delay delivery of its print edition and promised to have the newspaper out by noon today.

Here are some reports from the El Paso Times Web site, as well as KVIA-TV (ABC-7) and KFOX-TV.
