Sheriff asks for Help Identifying Body |

Remains found Nov. 4 still unidentified
The Santa Fe County Sheriff's office is asking for the public's help in identifying the remains of a male whose remains were found on Atalaya Mountain Approximately 4 miles from the Wilderness Gate Trail Head. The Remains were found Sunday evening November 4, 2007 at approximately 4 pm in a remote portion of Atalaya Mountain by a hiker. Members of the Office of the Medical Investigator and detectives have processed the scene and an autopsy was completed on the skeletal remains on November 7, 2007.
The identity has not been determined. The autopsy reveals that this was probably a male between the ages of 30 – 60 years old. The height may have been approximately 5’ 5” to 6’ 1” tall. The OMI determined that the remains were at this location no more than a year. The findings are now being disclosed to the public in hopes that someone may know a person that fits this description. Clothing:
1 black knit ski cap (“Mossimo” embroidered, size: Adult) 1 beige baseball cap (one size fits all) with yellow/brown dream catcher pattern in front 1 navy blue (partially bleached) down filled parker jacket with multiple logos printed on inside (“Triple Fat Goose”, size M/M, style: TFG-3) 1 dark blue front-zippered sweatshirt (Russell Athletic”, size L) 2 black gloves 1 pair of torn black jeans (“FARAH”, size: 32W x 30L)
Personal effects:
1 black/gray “T-Mobile” logo backpack 1 Bugler 6 oz can of tobacco, red lighter, pack of tobacco rolling paper inside 1 Pocket knife (brown leatherman-type fold out knife) 1 Knife with gut hook (black handle)
