Pearce to host newly elected House majority leader.
Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., will host House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, at round-table meetings in Columbus Thursday with local law enforcement, prosecutors and small-business leaders to discuss the federal government's role in border security, the New Mexico Business Weekly reported on its Web site. Boehner recently was elected majority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives to replace Texas Republican Rep. Tom DeLay. McCaul, chairman of the homeland security investigations subcommittee, recently held hearings in Washington looking into reported incursions into the United States by armed Mexicans in uniform. The three lawmakers will travel to Santa Teresa following the meetings in Columbus, the Business Weekly reported.
