Las Cruces police seek preteen boy in McDonald's incident.

Police are looking for a "heavyset Hispanic" boy who they believe sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl at a Las Cruces McDonald's restaurant some time between 2 and 3 p.m. on Feb. 14, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported today on its Web site.

The incident allegedly occurred in the restaurant's play area and came to light when the little girl complained to her mother after leaving the restaurant that "she wasn't feeling good," Las Cruces police officer Carlos Wooten told the Sun-News.

The mother examined the girl and found "some trauma" and called police, who haven't yet received results from a sexual assault examination, the paper reported.

Police told the Sun-News they are looking for two families who were in the restaurant at the time, as well as for the boy, who was with another, younger, boy and two women believed to be the boy's mother and grandmother.

Wooten said police don't hold the restaurant responsible.

"It's just one of those uncommon, bizarre occurrences," Wooten told the paper. "It's unfortunate that it happened."
