Dona Ana County deputies believe it was gang-related.
A 16-year-old boy, whose identity has not been released, was stabbed once in the back around 10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Acosta Road and Kalar Avenue in Anthony, N.M., the Las Cruces Sun-News reported today in its online edition. Dona Ana County Sheriff's Deputy Natalie Williams told the Sun-News that the victim was walking along the road with three other juveniles when a green Dodge Neon pulled up and four males jumped out of the car and stabbed the teen-ager. The unknown assailants acted "quickly," Williams told the paper, then jumped into their car and fled. The victim was taken to Thomason Hospital in El Paso where he was "conscious and stable," the Sun-News reported. Although sheriff's investigators have not yet established a motive, some officers told the paper they believe the stabbing was gang-related.
